Mentoring

More Reporters

More Reporters, Inc. offers a robust mentoring program. You may be a person wondering if court reporting is right for you, a student needing a boost to move forward in your training, or trying to complete your internship requirement for graduation. You may even be a new reporter who isn’t sure how to navigate the waters of this brand new adventure. Don’t worry. You have come to the right place. We have workshops, skills boot camps, audio training, and soft skills development. You do not have to be close to the Fourth Judicial Circuit. Remote options to participate are available. No matter where you are located or what skill set you need help with, we would love to hear from you!

I have never forgotten what it felt like to be a court reporting student. The struggle was truly real. My road to the finish line had quite a few potholes. I also have not forgotten the uncertainty that came with being a new reporter with tons of questions and no one to ask. Except for not starting my journey earlier, I have no regrets. Every hardship I overcame on this journey was definitely worth the rewards and opportunities becoming a court reporter has brought into my life. It is an elite few who earn the privilege to become guardians of the record. I cherish that privilege with great pride. Becoming part of an industry that is so respected and so focused on being the absolute best at what we do has affected my life in amazing ways. I remain committed to every student who aspires to become a court reporter. We are all striving for a greater level of accuracy, a greater level of efficiency, and a greater level of technological advancement. Whether you are a student, a new reporter, or a working reporter ready to take it to the next level, my firm will always be a platform to assist you in achieving your stenography dreams.

I have the pleasure and honor of having the fabulous, Ms. April Moore as my teacher. Words can't even express how thankful I am to have such an amazing wonderful person in my life. She’s had such a great impact on my life emotionally and mentally. She believed in me when I didn't or anybody else and even took the time to help me out no matter what time it was or how tired she was, she made sure I was helped. If it wasn't for April, I wouldn’t be where I am now.
April is just more than a teacher to me. She is a good friend and sometimes a second mom to me. I look up to her as role model in the court reporting industry. If anyone has the chance to encounter April in their life they will know how much a strong, wonderful, caring, and hard-working person she is. She will help other people out first then rest or do whatever she needs to do. The level of care she puts towards people is off the charts.

April has been an ongoing source of support with a variety of issues. From sitting in with her to going over case types, transcript structure, ethics, and even simply putting together a transcript for the first time, she draws upon her own experiences to help you avoid issues. April uses a great common-sense approach to issues. Sometimes simply talking through the scenario and little points from her helps you to realize the solution.
She goes out of her way to help teach others, both students and working reporters alike, and brings a contagious enthusiasm that bolsters your own. I look forward to continuing a working relationship with such a down-to-Earth, yet professional, reporter.

I found myself at a point in my life where I wasn't sure how much more I could put into court reporting school. I felt that I had given it my all and had nothing more to give. More than 5 years of school and had nothing to show for it. Three kids, a husband, a household to run, and crazy life circumstances. I was one more failed test from throwing in the towel.
I had the wonderful, life-changing opportunity to meet Ms. April Moore at that very crucial moment. Her superb experience in the court reporting field is admirable, but her life experiences are what make her extraordinary. Her "yes, I can and nobody can steal my fire” attitude is truly contagious. She gave me the opportunity to see what it was that I had invested these past 5 years in. From that moment on, I started to see it. I was able to see that little flicker of light she saw in me. As dim as it was, I can finally see it. She helped me realize that it was up to me to reignite that fire. I wanted to be a court reporter, but I failed to truly understand what it took to become not just a reporter, but a successful reporter.
I learned that while it is important to enhance and play on my strengths, I also had to work on my weaknesses. I learned that my weaknesses became obstacles because I chose to allow them to. Her approach was amazing. She helped me set goals; realistic goals. But if I really wanted to be successful, I needed to be fully committed. I needed to commit to myself and be consistent about it. As she says, "Your success is a product of being consistent."
I now find myself consistently moving along. I am only 3 tests away from living my dream. Life's curveballs are no longer obstacles. I can accept them, deal with them, learn from them, and then work around them. It's up to me
Thank you, Ms. April!

April is not your average mentor!! She has a way of personally taking on your goals as if they were her own. The dedication that April has shown to my success has inspired me to work harder, and to strive to be better in every way possible. A simple “Thank You” just cannot express my gratitude for everything she has and continues to teach me!!
Thank you April! You truly are one of a kind!!
